Zumbo is undoubtedly the king of desserts. The Balmain patisserie stays true to this. Unassuming decor with a tiny shop floor, I've squished in here to buy macaroons on a Saturday morning many a time. King Zumbo, hero of the dessert loving masses!!

It is with some trepidation that one visits a pâtisserie of such high repute - can Zumbo's creations truly live up to their reputations? The answer is yes: the macarons are truly a revelation, and reasonably priced compared to those sold in many other cafes. The salted butter caramel 'zumbaron' is simply amazing. Zumbo's experimental dishes can sometimes be a bit hit-and-miss, however. I found the gateaux "yu nuts zu millefeuille' underwhelming - layers of fantastic flavour mingled with the clumpy and dull. All, however, are a fascinating culinary experience. Top tip: don't come too late in the evening, or you may discover that your favourite treats are already sold out!

Enjoyed a delicious Gateaux de Voyage this morning - treat for the office from the boss. Except for the fact one side was a little burnt, it was delicious. Loved the passionfruit zumbaron decoraton. This delight is so rich it will feed many people :-)

The macarons still hold their own against the recent crop of macaron places. Theyve opened up another macaron store in Pyrmont and a dessert cafe place in NOrth Strathfield - great to see them expanding!

Sugar & sweet heaven! The sweet smells waft out onto the street, calling you in. Bright colours, lots of pointing at all the treats on platters and pedestals and happy staff to walk you through the visual stimulation to a perfect take-away box just for you! Macaroons are king, but the pastries are what dreams are made of!
