Never go to this hostel again! After the booking AND confirming with an booking agent + voucher with a date on it (also paid) they were able to say I didn't booked my night on the full moon party. I had paid so I called my bookingagent to check this misunderstanding, I was right. They didn't do anything to make the mistake right for me. Because of that I didn't get my ferry ticket and had to wait for 4 hours to get another accomodation that night.... my hole day was gone!

Do not stay here! There are much better places available on the island for the same cost. Go to horseshoe bay instead. The staff are rude, the kitchen is filthy and there is nothing to do. We paid $100 for a double bed, there was no ensuite for this price, the toilet was 50m away and the room smelt of urine.

I've stopped in probably 100 hostels over the world and I absolutely hated my time here. The basic concept of this hostel is that it's the guys who work here (and a couple of their sad mates) who are on holiday, and the paying customers are an inconvienince, unless you happen to be a girl they want to sleep with. They strut around the place like gangsters. A few of us went to a party and one of the staff let in a pretty girl in our group and then physically forced out the rest of us, calling us all names and pushing one girl (which he didn't fancy) to the ground, backed up by the pathetic security guy from the hostel who was rude and aggressive the whole time, except for one day when he actually needed to do his job and break a fight up between two big guys, at which time he got scared. Nearly every review you'll on this hostel mentions they play the music too loud during the day and you can't even talk to the person next to you over breakfast, have they done anything about it? Ofcourse not, as long the barman and his mate are happy then it's fine (even when a girl in our group asked they refused, obviously he didn't want to sleep with her). To make it worse, this all happened on Christmas day. Ruined. Thanks. Every other hostel on Maggy's is better.

The hostel looks really great, but don't get fooled by it's looks. For example, the guy at the reception played mega loud music when everyone just wanted to sleep (not just us, many other guests as well). We tried to sit and chat with some people at the tables, but we couldn't almost hear each other. The BBQ for $12 was awful, just some burgers (compared to the BBQ at a hostel in Cairns where you got lamb, chicken ect for $4). Way too expensive to sleep here.

Dirty, kitchen didn't work. Showers and toilets wasn't the best . Service was nice, expensive food. Buy your own food.
