Batty's Takeaway

On the high street in Umina, there are quite a few fish and chips stores, being a coastal town right on the beach. The decor is old school take away. You would walk up barefooted from the beach, wet and sandy, and pop in for hot fish or a cold iceblock. Being Good Friday most of the chippies were busy but this one was chock-a-block. A good sign I thought. I was correct. The food was lightly battered and lightly fried not leaving that heavy feeling. The Barramundi fillets were no more than 24 hours old and delicious. Being so busy they accidentally made a mistake with our order. After going back, I saw that they had made a note of their mistake, offered us a refund and offered to recook the missing items. I forgot, this is coastal NSW not Sydney, where folks are genuinely nice. The food was great, the customer service was amazing. Hence this will be the only chippie I go back to in Umina - barefoot and all .
