Carbone's Cafe

Fresh, tasty and well priced food. Excellent coffee! Great views! It is obvious the food here is prepared by an experienced chef. It really is better than most places I have visited in Tas.

Great food ,rude rude man

Stopped here for lunch after visiting the platypuses, had a great fish burger and coffee. Service was great very friendly and a great location.

Best Breakfast in Tassie - yeah i read the reviews and was very tempted not to go. Went this morning on our way home to Melbourne - so glad we did!! The fishtanks are still there for the record :-) - we were a little worried about the service based on some other reviews so with 4 adults with 4 kids aged 2, 3, 4, 5 we asked if we could sit outside. Not a problem at all he said... and the service was fantastic! Not sure if the owners have changed but the service was great. On top of that the coffee was the best we'd had in tassie and an 8/10 on a melbourne scale which is pretty good... and the food - well, fantastic! We all had various different breakfasts and everyone raved... considering our 10 days in tassie didnt really produce a lot of great food - this was a highlight of the trip and we'll be back for sure. All i can say is the reviews i read are now 18 months old and if you do go to Carbone's Cafe and find it like it do - i reckon write a review - cause i read dodgy reviews and will avoid a place (albeit there wasnt much to choose from down this end of tassie in September) - anyway - thats my review - overall i would have to say 9.5/10 - it was really, really great all around!

If you want a coffee, do not go to this cafe. They will refuse to serve it on the basis that you have to spend more money there to make it 'worth their while'. I am not sure that they understand the literal meaning of cafe (coffee). Not only did they refuse our request but they were nasty and rude on top of it all like we should have known better. Bad, bad, bad all round. This place is notorious for bad service. So if that's what you want go here. They even make their customers clean the fish tank if you happen to touch it. Tsk tsk!
