I went to Duthy Street Deli yesterday for the first time and ordered a breakfast. I asked if they did gluten free bread, which they did, but said it would cost an extre $2.50!! I paid it, quite enjoyed the food, but actually got increasginly itrritated at having to pay $2.50 for 2 pieces of toast when the normal bread would have been included in the cost. This is not a choice, but a medical necessity. Would it be considerde fair if diabetics had to pay more for their meals?????? Celiacs might conisder elsewhere!!

I frequently go here for breakfast on the weekends and it is a really nice spot - especially sitting outside during summer. The food is actually pretty reasonably priced even though bacon is an add-on for most breakfast meals. The coffee is very good and the service is fairly quick most mornings. With no table menus, you have to go inside and look at the big board to see what is on the menu - if you're sitting outside that means everybody needs to go inside and look at the board (which can be a little inconvenient!). Overall, it's a really nice spot for breakfast - reasonably priced with very good food and coffee.

I recently bought a coffee from the Duthy Street Deli on a Saturday morning. It was very busy, but I didn't mind waiting because the coffee was superb. Beautifully made, fantastic crema and delicious. I work not far from the Duthy Street Deli so I thought I'd check it out for lunch having had such a good experience on the weekend. I came in on a Friday and ordered a takeaway 'Rye Chicken Ceaser' roll and ofcourse another large coffee. It looked pretty good. The girl at the counter had to check to make sure it actually was a Rye Ceaser roll which annoyed me as there were four others in the cabinet, all exactly the same and there were no other choices. Total cost $13. I thought, well that's more than I'd usually pay but the food after such a good weekend experience I thought I'd treat myself. My coffee was ready instantly but was the wrong size (the girl had forgotten to right 'large' on the order so the barrista made me another. The coffee was awful. It tasted like dirty water. I took a bite of my roll to find that it a. didn't contain any bacon b. didn't use cos lettuce (as advertised) but iceberg c. wasn't actually a rye roll. Seriously how many things can you screw up in a sandwich? It's not rocket science. I feel totally ripped-off and will be encouraging others to avoid during the week. I could have 2 entire meals from KFC just next to my work for the same price and I guarantee it would have tasted better than this. Avoid at all costs. EDIT - A friend pointed out that I was pretty harsh with this review, given that it's probably our favourite spot to eat on weekends! I stand by what I've written, just don't go there during the week. Weekends is a whole different ball game.
