Bad experience. I took a classic NAD amplifier which was having problems with the left channel and uneven volume balance. The problem was initially 'fixed' by cleaning the RCA connections and control pots and switches with some Electra-clean, for $125...a little expensive for some very basic work, but I was happy enough to pay for the convenience of not doing it myself and the assurance that a thorough check had been performed. Once I got the amplifier home, the unit was much better but I noticed the balance was still slightly off. I am sure the problem is with the amplifier and not the speakers, cables or room as I have checked it against another amp in an A-B setup. I took the amplifier back to have the balance checked - a five minute job with some basic testing equipment. The 'technician' didn't even bother to speak to me but rather barked at the poor receptionist "that's what the balance control is for!" I was told that to have the amplifier checked would cost me another $55 at least! I stand to be corrected, but is my understanding that the balance control on an amplifier is to correct volume balance problems caused by the room, speakers and other factors external to the amplifier, not to correct a fault with the amp itself! Had the 'technician' taken five minutes to talk to me, let me explain the problem, perhaps given the amp a quick bench test, things may have gone differently. As it turns out I took my amplifier and walked out, never to return. I am a real audio enthusiast, and would have been glad to find good repairer where I could continue to take equipment to be serviced. Unfortunately for these guys their poor customer service has cost them a customer.
