If our experience is anything to go by, I would NOT recommend Expression Kitchens for anything! We commissioned Expression Kitchens to build a custom Office unit with two cabinets, overhead cupboards and a desk, and it was purchased as a DIY to come "fully assembled ready for install". The purchase price was very pricey, but I figured that we were getting a quality unit and they have done most of the work in 'fully assembling'. Unfortunately, when the unit arrived, whilst the cupboards were partially assembled, there was no instructions on how to put it together and obviously some of the components needed to be cut, planed and assembled. We should have seen trouble coming when a couple of weeks before delivery Daryl emailed us with suggestions to which screws we should be purchasing to complete the assembly. After trying to figure out how to put it together (no screw holes had been drilled to give any clues, and as I mentioned before no plans or instructions), I called a friend who is a qualified Carpenter. We stood around for a while, and managed to figure out how most of it went together based upon the friend's qualified expertise about how 'packers' and 'fillers' should be used, but there was nothing to support the desk. With the carpenter friend, we measured all of the components with how we expected them to go together and found that there would be a 3-4mm gap caused by the desk bench being 3-4mm longer than the overhead cupboards. The other thing that puzzled us was what 2 pieces of 18mm square x1800mm were for? I rang Daryl to ask how the unit should go together, and ask where was the plan that we were promised in the quote. The response that Daryl gave was that all the plan he would normally give was in line with the rough picture that we had given him to explain what we wanted in the first place. He did explain that my carpenter friend was correct in his guess about how some of the components went together. I challenged him about how the desk should be supported, with the response that we needed to purchase our own brackets or railing to support the desk. So in addition to needing to purchase all the screws he emailed us about earlier, now we had to purchase other components to support the desk! I asked what the 18mm square pieces were for, the response that we didn't need them. So, I am still at a loss about why they were provided (and presumedly we were charged for) when we didn't need them!??!?! The final challenge I gave Daryl was what we should do about the 3-4mm gap difference, with a response that I obviously didn't know anything about DIY and then he hung up on me! Sorry Expression Kitchens, if I do not know anything about DIY - and obviously my qualified carpenter friend (with almost 20 years experience) knows nothing about putting your DIY units together either! Overall, I am obviously very unhappy with our experience with Expression Kitchens, because now we need to expend more money to not only buy more components to complete the assembly, but engage a carpenter to assist in putting it together.
