After driving home from collecting my car at 4.30pm on 25/1, it has been sitting in the garage as I didn't use it yesterday. Today, Australia Day, we went out to lunch. On returning to the garage I find about 1-2 litres of coolant over the garage floor, and when I open the bonnet to inspect I see the engine cover is missing ! Not good enough. Following this debacle, I experienced an unrelated air conditioning issue, and as the car was in at VW (still getting the coolant issue repaired), I asked them to repair it also. After receiving a diagnosis for repair and cost, I confirmed the repair. Turns out they misdiagnosed, and replaced the wrong part, but returned the car anyway saying it was all good. I returned the car again for the correct repair (not charged for this time). The car was returned after the usual delay for parts, this time with the air con system empty of gas, the gas valve covers missing, and an in line valve in the 'off' position so the system couldnt operate anyway. By this time I was so fed up, I hired an independant Air Con mechanic who alerted me to these issues and had the system running perfectly within 30 minutes, and $150 later. This is a copy of one of the emails I sent them.... Hello To let you know your parts department is letting the team down..... Ever since I have had this volkswagon from 2006 till now, the availability of parts for my Passat has been extremely disappointing to say the least. Anything out of the ordinary, and the part has to be obtained from Sydney, or worse in one case from Germany. As I rent a car while mine is being repaired, every day the car is out of action costs around $80 for car rental. And although I'm assured its overnight delivery from Sydney, it never seems to be, taking anywhere from overnight to 3 days to get a part. By comparison, when I get my car repaired by an' after market' mechanic, the repair is usually same day, parts and all, with any parts being available within an hour or two. In fact the only reason I ever take my Volkswagon to a Volkswagon dealer for repair is if my after market mechanic doesn't have the tools for the job. Its an unfortunate result of very poor service from Volkswagon. Our car is being replaced this year, and it won't be a Volkswagon ( or Audi as my guess is that its the same service department), and the ONLY reason it won't be, is the poor service I have associated with these models from James Frizelle. I am sure I am not the only customer with this experience. The odds of me being the only one getting bad service every time would be too high.
