Nice spot to camp, plenty of room and with a nice creek running through the property. Campfires allowed and you can collect timber on the property. Dogs also allowed and they have showers/toilet facilities. Only downside is that of late the camping fees have gone up, last time I was there (about a year ago) it was $13 per person per night plus $30 per vehicle. Prices might have changed since.

Upon driving into the camping ground at Gordon Country (First camp ground) just in side the gate we were very lucky we had a 4WD as there was a HUGE hole filled with water that took us by surprise. We had just set up camp when a lady whom was checking site stayers came over and we informed the lady that we were to be meeting with other family members and gave their names which she suggested they COULD BE either at Bull Hole or Black Cockatoo which was further up the road. We went up the road to the other camp sites as suggested and could not see our other family members,so we back to our camp site. Upon going back to our site my partner and I collected some fire wood then thought we would go and check out the Amenities which were absolutely disgusting to say the least. We went for another drive and finally caught up with the other family members who were at a site even further up the road from Black Cockatoo on Gordon Country and I asked if they had seen a lady who was checking site stayers, My daughter said Yes, so I asked if she had informed them that we were looking for them, Unfortunately NO was the answer. The female checking site stayers only cared about who paid and who didn't and certainly did not care at all of our concern about our other family members. I could understand if it was a busy time, though it wasn't - 20th April 2013. If one was to stay at Gordon Country without paying anything I could understand the Owner/Staff not knowing of who was staying and where & the disgusting condition of the amenities, though having to pay $13 ea and $10 for our vehicle and for filth I can still not comprehend. My partner and I have camped now quite a few places though will never again be going back to Gordon Country

Sitting by the bubbling stream on a crisp morning, listening to the wildlife as birds flit through the grass searching for food. Early morning walks through the national park to watch the sun rise in the east from one of the range lookouts. Fresh air, clear skies a writers haven and a photographers dream. Hot solar showers and clean toilets are provided in convenient positions for campers to use...just remember to leave a green footprint...take your rubbish with you and appreciate that there are people willing to share their paradise with those of us city folk who long for a tree change.

This is one of those little secret places that is not suitable for people who want it all done for them. There are toilets and showers which get busy on some long weekends (Easter, Queens Birthday and Christmas New Year). There are heaps of different areas to go camping and if you like cold camping this is a great choice. Cost is reasonable, from memory $11 for adults and kids up to 12/13 $7. Timber is available BYO chainsaw. Showers gas fired and wicked hot. Plenty of walks in the area. Good for kids to explore. A lot of inquisitive wildlife including some beautiful Lace Monitors, heaps of birds, including kookaburras that have a thing for snags on Sunday morning. Swimming area is a bit off-putting for oldies but kids love it. Take garbage bags or burn your food scraps. Don't leave glass around for the rest of us, and if need to be having your hand held, then go to a National Park, where you can't get into any sort of trouble because you obey all the signs, and that way you won't disturb the rest of us with your sooking. The area is great on your own or with the family, so long as you understand you may see black snakes and other large indigenous animals which won't bite if you give them space.

Beautiful camping. But don't come here if you want any kind of environmentally/balanced/sustainable living! Not providing anywhere to dispose of waste is pretty poor. Fantastic scenery and countryside. Enjoy it whilst it's still there.
