A day out for the family at the Melbourne Zoo The best thing is you can get to the zoo very easily on public transport by a train, tram or bus. If you are close enough you can walk or ride your bike and there is parking very close by 5 hours for $2. There is plenty to see along the way and some great education if you want to know a little more. The zoo staff are very knowledgable and friendly. There is plenty of places to stop and have a rest or even if you want to have a picnic with the family. Along the way there are many toilets, bins and also some shops to but food and drink along with a couple of merchandise shops. Looking forward to heading back with our little man as we now have memberships for the year. Great value as 3 visits to any of the many zoos and we will be ahead of our investment.

You have to see it once. Really needs some basic thought about what they are spendiing money on. Tired of seeing all the begging boxes and outrageously priced gift shops. How about getting back to thinking about the animals. Also stop trying to rip off people parking to go to the zoo. 5 minutes late and bang - another $70 bucks. The workers are friendly enough, but come on, let's bring it into the new millenium.

You can see many animals there. If you have free time, spend it in the Zoo, not in front of the TV. Don't be a couch potato, explore the world around you. This Zoo is so big, that you'll need hours to pay attention to every single animal. In my opinion, you can make a list of the animals that you're interested in. It is a good opportunity to hear the stories of the keepers, too. Go to the Zoo and have fun!

Melbourne Zoo is a good fmaily day out. Its not overly large which makes it a good place to wander round. Yhe size means that you can go home having seen everything, where larger Zoo's sometimes leave you with a chioce of what to see and miss out when the children tire. Impressive place, although some room for development, including some of the enclosures with the big cats where eother emppyty or very overgrown so you could not see whats in side. Good day out!

Although we enjoyed our time at the zoo I really expected more. It's quite a small layout and has limited animals to see. The best enclosure was the elephants. We went in Aug 2013 and there were a few 'exhibits' missing or being renovated. For Australia I was expecting more in the indigenous area, the tasmanian devils were missing and only 4 kangaroos and 2 wallabies!? The major let down was the take away food pavilion....poor quality food at city prices. The zoo should look to this
