Now, at first glance you will assume I'm being critical. I am. This is a hospital which is supposed to 'look' after the well being of its children. However, when looking after my friend's daughter in the hospital's ward, they took maximum time in letting her out (about thirty minutes which is not that bad) but the part where they fail to do their job is in time and freedom management. The hospital staff told my friend's daughter that she were allowed to be outside of the hospital when in fact that was not the case. They changed their mind on the hour that she was meant to be tucked away at home. This is a bad management of the children they are looking after as children do not like to be 'played' around with. No one likes to be played around with so I do not see why this hospital's staff is somewhat inferior to looking after the children that they are protecting, looking after and trying to get back into routine especially when the hospital staff change their minds on the spot. It shows that the hospital staff is careless about its children and that they simply do not care about the children they are serving.

When my kids were very sick I've taken them to Canterbury Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospital. But I have never experienced the careless attitude and ridiculous wait that I had when I took my daughter to Westmead Children's Hospital recently. I asked all the parents waiting - the average wait was 5 hours! In total we waited 6.5 hours and by the time we got in to see the doctor, my daughter was feeling terrible and we were exhausted (it was 4am in the morning). In that time, I could have gone to Concord or even Canterbury Hospital, received good care and gone home knowing my child's health is fine. That's tragic - given that it's a children's hospital and Concord isn't even made to take care of kids. I will not be donating or going back to Westmead Children's Hospital to give birth to my next child. This is a totally overrated hospital for kids. Spoke to my friend who works at Westmead Hospital (the adult one near by) and said she wouldn't go there for emergencies either - the wait is enough to kill you.
