My first visit was in the winter of 2001. I have returned so many times since that first visit that I cannot count them! The rainforest upstream (Toorongo Falls) is amongst the best I have seen outside the Great Otway National Park. The classic, well-photographed and often whimsically termed "Bridge over Tumbling Waters" is the first place that cameras are exercised. This is also the best place for a dip in the shallow waters on a hot day if you can stand the bracing cold water. The lower campground is best for spreading out without feeling cramped. It has been slated for redevelopment and picnic facilities since 2006 but nothing has eventuated. The upper campground, accessed along a narrow track from the lower one, is often a dog's breakfast of mud, slush and rubbish in winter and after heavy rain and often favoured by noisy trailbike/4WD visitors. All in all, an excellent little spot to contemplate nature, take your camera (and yourself) for an enjoyable burble through the bush and go home returning with memories that I reckon will see you come back many times again.
