Awaba Cafe, 67 The Esplanade, Mosman

I had breakfast at Awaba a couple of weeks ago and I thought the food and venue were great. It is just across the road from Balmoral Beach and has a great open vista from the whole restaurant, so you can't help but enjoy the view. The food was modern Australian, nice presentation and great eating. Staff were really friendly too. I will be back.

Food (breakfast) was great, but took a fair while to come out. It was a busy day though, so whatever. Only reason for leaving a review is that after we had finished eating I went to buy one of the pre-packaged biscuits they had sitting in little baskets on the counter and was basically told off by a guy who looked like the owner or manager. It was a bit of a mystery how his comments actually bore any relationship to my purchase of a takeaway biscuit, but he mumbled several times that our table was booked for lunch - he seemed to be telling us to hurry up and get out! I was a little cheeky and asked if he was having a tough day and he snapped back at me. Can only conclude he must be very, very important and too busy to be nice.

Unhelpful staff, bordering on rude. They forgot a menu item, and not once were we asked what we wanted to drink with our meal - by the time the food was all sorted out, we were so frustrated we simply didn't want to bother ordering any drinks. Did not like - will not go again.
