Surprisingly excellent schnitzel and wurst on the water at Manly. Really did a great job with the rotkohl and sauerkraut too. Definitely a place to visit if you like German food.

The Bavarian Bier Cafe does what it says on the tin - it's a good spot for some beer, pretzels, shots (brought out on a paddle) and stodgy bavarian food. This is great on a sunny afternoon due to the outdoor area and the proximity to the water, and it makes for good people watching too. It's not my favourite bar in Manly but I'm always happy to go there. Try a mango beer if you fancy something a little sweeter!

Most people know the Bavarian Bier Café chain in Sydney. One of those café is conveniently based just next to Manly Wharf so you can enjoy the water views if you are lucky enough to get a spot near to it. I have never seen it empty, it's most of the times an extremely busy place. Not only because the beer on tap is good (hey, it's German!) but also because the food is decent. It is not very cheap but you won't be disappointed from what you get. If you aren't very hungry, get a pretzel, that's always a nice small but filling dish. I appreciate that they called these cafés Bavarian for they are typical Bavarian and not just generally German. Bavaria is just one out of 16 states. But that's just me being German here, haha.

As the name suggests, the menu is very European, so great if you're after a big hearty meal. I find it a little overpriced - $11 for a bowl of chips, and meals around the $25-$30 mark. The beer list is extensive, but again expensive. I loved the mango beer, perfect for a hot summer's day. Location wise is perfect as it's right on Manly Wharf. Seating is both outdoors and indoors, with heaters provided in winter.

Stunning views. Great outdoor seating area. Nicely appointed inside dining area. Food always good and consistent. Good foreign beer selection. Chain restaurant.
