Chicco

Like the set up, food is good - had the salt pepper squid - not bad. A tad overpriced. Breakfast menu looks good, may have to try it one day.

We had lunch yesterday at Chicco in Seddan, with the anticipation it was going to be another little hidden gem to pop up on this side of town. Unfortunately..... it is not and we would never go back there. The food was AWFUL ! I chose the chicken and leek pie that came with chips and rocket salad, hoping that at restaurant prices, it was going to be a home cooked delight with golden pastry. Instead the pie that was placed on top of undercooked shoestring fries was over microwaved and must have been put under a grill for a few seconds, as a very small section of the top end was sort of crisp. The rest of the pie was doughy and rubbery, with that 'spent to long being nuced texture'. The filling was edible but gooey and the side of onion jam to accompany my pie was to over powering for it to be on the plate at all. And the rocket salad was unwashed and at the end of the plate with unripe and crisp tomatoes. 1 out of 10 for presentation. My fiends 'special of the day' chilli beef pie was in the same state but said the filling was quite nice. On a positive note, the day was one of those sunny clear sky Melbourne winter days and sitting outside in the sun was wonderful....... only to be ruined by one of the male staff members, looking like he hadn't showered or washed his clothes in a week or so, sit behind us with a friend and excessively smoke as we ate. The female staff member that served us was a true delight. We spent just under $50 for 2 pies and chips and a coffee, pretty steep for really bad pub food !!
