Chillies Authentic Indian Restaurant

We have been travelling through Tasmania over the past 7 days. We needed something special this evening so we decided on Indian and googled Chillies which happened to be near our accommodation. Food was the best Indian we had tasted and we both loved all the selections that we made from the menu. There was a good ambience in the restaurant and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be recommending this place to other friends who visit Hobart.

The dining experience itself was nothing spectacular. Service was slow, but polite. The food was nothing amazing, but it was edible. However, a few hours later my husband and I found ourselves in immense pain and violently ill with food poisoning that lasted for the next couple of days. As we did not share dishes it must have been a general issue, or something to do with their naan or lassi as these were the only dishes that we had in common.

The food is great and we regularly get takeaway from here but will not go back again to eat in because of the service. It was incredibly slow and we had to continue to get up from the table to ask our waitress for things as nobody was coming to our table, despite it not being particularly busy at the time. As an example, 2 entrees were served out of a table of 4 and both of those entrees had been finished for 30minutes before the next two entrees came out, with no apology. Fortunately the food is good enough to continue going back for takeaway. Do recommend the tandoori lamb cutlets as well as the butter chicken. A real shame about the service, we brought friends here expecting so much more based on the food. Oh and if you have the entertainment book, be aware they won't let you use the voucher for takeaway, despite the voucher stating it can be used in all circumstances.

Awesome food and service. Won't go anywhere else in Hobart for Indian food!
