Criterion Hotel Perth

Good buffet breakfast for $13

Only stayed in the room two minutes before leaving. The overhead lights didn't work, there was a huge brown stain on the wall (maybe soda or tea?) and roaches in the bathroom. Went back to the front dek where they offered to 1) kill the roaches for me, and then 2) move me to a room on the second floor (the lift was out of order but they offered to carry my bags up). I was so disgusted with the situation that I asked for a refund. They refused but I still checked out - there was no way I was spending the night in such an unclean place.

Wonderful service

I spent four nights at the Criterion Hotel in August 2009, and was very pleased with the service and room provided. The reception and rooms are very simple and stylish, with a great retro feel and the staff are absolutely fantastic. The free wi-fi is a nice touch, and the complimentary wine was acceptable. Was glad to see that the Criterion is within walking distance of the Esplanade Busport, so was able to walk directly to the motel after my bus trip from the airport. Very close to shopping and food available 24/7 from nearby stores, also a quick walk to the train station. I'll stay there again for sure!

Love this place, first visit to Perth and booked basic room ($78 a night) for what is now over a week... over ~80 rooms in a multi-story hotel, very polite and accommodating staff at front desk. :) hotel is half a block away from city centre and local pub is downstairs, worth a laugh or quick shot before heading into town on the weekend. free wireless in 3 hour slots, when you've used it up ask for another... I have saved a mountain from this service! :D will recommend without hesitation to friends and family visiting Perth.
