Interstate buyers get bad service here- even after phoning and discussing what I am looking for the items are then sold before you even see them. I used to be a keen buyer when i lived in sydney but now moving interstate - you get ignored. I have requested several items and they have been on "hold" for ages for someone else, never advertised. Exercise in frustration and being ignored. Whatever I want has already been sold even in the new consignments after I have requested for months ...

We have been renovating our home now for the past 6 years, partly because I have had immense trouble finding the right Japanese pieces I have dearly longed for since my first trip to Japan in the late 80's. After looking both online and travelling some distances around Sydney I was delighted to finally find Edo Arts. The selection was vast, original and exquisite! Paul and the staff were wonderful and offered many new designing options I hadn't considered, using some beautiful textiles and scrolls. The prices were reasonable so my husband was quite pleased to know the budget could then extend to the garden and we arranged to have the most remarkable Japanese door delivered for our garden as well. If you are looking for inspiration and great service I can highly recommend Edo Arts, in fact start with the website as this is a great place to view the product range and ask any questions. I now have only a couple of items to finish off the job so I have registered on their mailing list so I won't miss any new items that come in.

A childhood fascination with the 60's TV series Shintaro led me in adult life to become fascinated with Japanese artifacts and furniture. Edo Arts has allowed me to indulge that interest. The proprietors, Paul & Karman, having lived in Japan, are able to source a range of products that, as far as I'm concerned, is unmatched by other outlets which merely seem to come and go (which is unsurprising given the limited range and prices they charge in comparison). Edo's understanding of Japanese antiques and the extremely sympathetic and minimal restorations undertaken by them in-house are both very important considerations for me when making purchases. These guys live and breathe what they do and it is infectious. Over the years I have been fortunate to obtain through Edo a great collection of Japanese antique artifacts and furniture. If you have researched a particular item and it is not immediately available you need only ask Paul and on one of his many trips to Japan each year you can be sure he'll be able to source it for you. Apart from all that the store is an oasis of calm set in a wonderful bush land setting and there is no place like it this side of Japan.

Visited Edo Arts again yesterday to see the new shipment on display. I was very excited with what I saw. Spent over an hour there. So much to look at and talk about with the owners, Paul and Karman, and their helpful staff. Every item is different and unique. I bought an exquisite antique mulberry wood sewing box for a very reasonable price.

A Adamant Review. I have visited Edo Arts on several occasions and the experience is one of pure pleasure. The shop is like a museum a slice of Japan from the past. The furniture and artifacts are beautiful restored and presented. I find the owners and staff very friendly and knowledgeable. I am on their mailing list and I love receiving invitations to the unveiling of new shipments. Every time I visit the store there are new things to see.
