Europcar - Geelong

Be very careful doing business with this office. I called ahead from Warrnambool to get a car for a week. Over the phone I'm told the total price would be around $240. The representative picks me up from the train station with my bags and drives me back to their office. He arranges a car for me and tells me it will cost $427! I really had no alternatives, standing in his office with my baggage several blocks from the train station and I had no information about other car rental agencies in Gelong. Later, I contacted Europcar and told them I wanted them to refund the difference in the price quoted over the phone and the switched price once in the office. Europcar told me the Gelong Europcar branch is a private franchise and they can't give me any money back. I didn't rent from "private franchise" car rentals, I rented from Europcar. Now, Europcar wants to tell me otherwise and it wasn't them that ripped me off. At this Geelong branch of Europcar, insist on knowing the final price before showing up to pick up the car.
