Garuva Hidden Tranquility Restaurant & Bar

Foods ok. A little over priced for what you get. Seating is awkwark. I never felt comfortable sitting down at a table.

This is one of my FAVOURITE places. I love the relaxed atmosphere, either in the bar, or dining area. You need to be open minded and realise this is not your average dining experience. It's different for a reason which is why it's so popular. Staff can be friendly but really busy. I've always gotten a smile. Food great. Quite a bit to choose from. I suggest order several dishes each and share. The billowy curtains allow you a selection of private retreat. Neighbours can hear you so careful of confessions, makes for great ears dropping! I believe they have booths and tables but I love sitting on the floor cushions. Take your shoes off, but make SURE THEY DO NOT SMELL! ...... BUT (there it is again) it can get noisy on a Friday and Saturday night. Everyone is having a good time and it shows. lol. A quiet dinner for two during the week. A fun night of 4 on the weekend.

My daughters 30th birthday and she booked a table in advance for 4 people one of which was in a wheelchair. She was not able to get a booking for 6.30/7pm and accepted a booking for 8pm. Our taxi was delayed and we arrived at the restaurant at 8.10pm to be told that our table had been given to another party and was not longer available. We were ushered to the bar while another table was found. With hindsight we should have walked out then. Having originally booked a wheelchair accessible table we were shown to a totally inaccessible area where my son's wheelchair could not possibly get to the table easily. After a lot of rearranging tables and chairs etc we finally settled down on the floor to look at the menu. We enjoyed the food we received and have no complaint about that. When our meal was finished the only way my son could leave the cubicle was by disturbing the people in the cubicle next door. My son suggested to our waitress/manager that he would be prepared to sit and wait until the people next door finished their meal if he was given a complimentary drink. Our waitress/manager showed absolutely no humanity or empathy when she told him there would be no complimentary drink and that people in his situation should make an earlier booking at the restaurant. DUH! we had asked for an earlier booking. This restaurant is NOT wheelchair friendly and probably not senior citizen friendly either. Its PR is non existent and although the food was good I would not rush back there again or recommend it to any of my friends. I feel the treatment we received was 2nd class at best.

Hearing about Garuva and being a romantic, I took my fiancee' to Garuva Hidden Tranquilty as a surprise 51st birthday celebration. She was absolutely stunned by the place just as I was. Being in our 50's and growing up in the 60's we totally appreciated and enjoyed the ambience and delightful decor that made our experience one never to forget. The service was impeccable, the food was to die for and the whole feeling of relaxation in the atmosphere that was created blew us away. I would like to thank the staff who catered for us and made her evening very special for and I. We will most definately be returning to your establishment and work our way through the gastronomical delights that you have on your menu....Onmce again thank you for making my lady's night special for her and I will be recommending Garuva Hidden Tranquility to my friends and family....yours gratefully....Mark & Sharon Torrington

I am sorry to say that we will not be returning to Garuvers Restaurant. We arrived at 8.15pm for an 8.30pm booking Our table was not ready so we were told to go to the bar area to have a drink while we waited. Many guests arrived after us and as we were there earlier than them, we thought we would not have long to wait, This was not the case, our booking got overlooked and we did not eat until 11pm. Althought the ambience of the restaurant is nice, the service was not good We will not be returning to the Restaurant.
