Glasgow Arms Hotel

Initially I loved this place. I've eaten there maybe a dozen times and taken plenty of friends with me. Good Japanese food made by Japanese chefs. Large portions. Sadly though, the service can be very hit and miss. Most of the staff are fine but one women in particular can be extremely rude. Last time I turned up with my son in a stroller and 5 friends and while there were two tables that could accommodate us, she asked us to please eat outside. When I objected (there were a lot of smokers outside), she told me that babies weren't allowed in the pub part of the hotel downstairs and the tables available weren't big enough. It wouldn't have been hard to pull a couple together but clearly she wasn't interested. We got the hint and took our business elsewhere. So... + for food, + for portions, - for service, meh for price.

Nice little place to come for a mid-week social catchup with friends. They do jugs - which is awesome - and there is a small internal restaurant that serves moderately-priced pub grub. Definitely worth a look, but don't expect the most modern decor.

The pub food is quite good, bit of a wait on a busy night for orders, but the quality and presentation of the nightly specials make up for it :) - shared german snags (10 for $12) and had a medium 280 gram steak with choice of two sides ($10)

Try the chicken teriyaki burger and curry beef. This is pub food with a Japanese spin.
