The gym is very cramped. The cardio equipment is poorly maintained and needs to go back to Life Fitness Branding. The reception staff are very helpful and nice, but as for personal trainers they are very rude.

Club has recently been refurbished with new strength and cardio equipment. Staff are really helpful and care about my goals. Love the fact I get my program reviewed for free every 6 weeks. Recommended!

What a shocker. I don't understand how this business is still running. The old and dirty machinary/crappy building really isn't their main weakness. It's their customer service and lack of professionalism that brings these guys down. The receptionists are always rude and unhelpful and god only knows what the managers do around the place. I was a member there for 3 years (way too long) and now I go to Genisis Camberwell and very satisfied with them. Do not bother with Goodlife. You'll find a cheaper, honest and more pleasant gym somewhere else.

Goodlife Balwyn is a sorry excuse for a gym. The equipment is old and constantly falling to pieces, and is not maintained in working order. The roof caved in, and was left with a hole in it (exposing everyone on the gym floor to dust and other hazards) for weeks. The air conditioning was inoperable for two weeks during summer - the fix was to place the actual plant unit ON the floor in the weights area, thus venting the exhaust directly into the gym. The male change rooms constantly smell of sewerage. A split system was left hanging off a wall, propped on a couple of open locker doors. Read their contracts carefully, as there are hidden fees. Do not recommend to anyone in the area. The only thing goodlife has going for it is good personal training staff, although you would be better off getting their details and doing PT with them privately.

Goodlife is a poor choice for a number of reasons. Firstly, the equipment is standard, and rarely cleaned properly: old exercise mats and broken mechanisms that are left in that state for weeks make it clear that this isn't a club that is interested in investing fees back into facilities. Secondly it is quite expensive compared to many other gyms in the area, such as Genesis in Camberwell, that is cheaper with much better facilities. Thirdly, Goodlife has that slightly 'dodgey gym' vibe that so many are notorious for: in my own experience, this was confirmed recently when I decided to cancel my membership and they continued pulling payments from my accounts, they admitted a 'clerical error', but have refused to rebate the fees withdrawn. I wouldn't recommend Goodlife, no one should be paying premium for second rate quality, especially when there is a mass of competition in the area.
