This cafe serves value for money. You get a breakfast dish, a coffee as well as an orange juice for approximately $15. Food tastes fairly average though.

Worst Food/Service in Newtown - Avoid! Hi, have lived in Newtown for 2 years & eat out a few times a week on King Street/Enmore road. Got a voucher for Grub & Tucker off 'Group-on' website so thought would give it a go with my girlfriend. Was $49 for voucher of value $129 - (2 x 3 course meal with glass of wine or cocktail). I rang multiple times before any answer, eventually someone answered saying they would book me in & ring back in 30 minutes to confirm. Didn't receive a call back & I had to leave for work. The next day I rang & they said they didn't have reservation for me & would ring me back to confirm. They 'did' ring back & booked me in, but then someone else rang back to say they were full & we 'couldn't' come. After discussion they agreed we could come & we found when we arrived there were quite a few empty tables for duration of our meal. Got our menu straight away & ordered starter/main/dessert altogether, but was 20 minutes before receiving our starter (simple bruschetta / garlic bread with mushrooms) pretty standard not great however & not worth more than $6 each. We then waited around 50 min's for our mains of Lamb Shank/mashed potato & Chicken Parmigiana. Could not undertand the wait as really only a few people in restaurant (they also didn't bother collecting the plates from our starter). We had in this time the 'House' Red to sip on, however this was so artificially sweet and clearly from the cheapest box of Goon available we left it. (Coming from 2 people who regularly drink cheap wine this was pretty bad - and should be embarrassed to serve anywhere) The Lamb was bland, veg rock solid and had some strange watery sauce surrounding the 'ridiculously' salty mash. The Ch. Parmigiana was the most dry I have seen in my 2 years (and many serves) in Australia, my hungry girlfriend had about 2 bites before giving up. The chips looked & tasted pretty good, shame though the waitress walked off with no answer as was asking for tomato sauce, so she had to go to counter to ask for it. Neither meals were worth more than $10, and around Newtown you can get a daily special pretty much anywhere for $10 of superior quality. Quite honestly they were really bad. We 'then' waited with our plates from Starter & Main courses still on our table for a further 25 minutes before someone came and collected them. With no sign still of our dessert & job's to go to we left without them, after spending a miserable 1hr 45 minutes there, eating bad food that was not worth the $49 voucher let alone supposed $129 original price. SUMMARY On a quiet Monday evening, with good staff ratio, a set menu that should mean food should be prepped, easy to organise & serve, it was a ridiculously long time to wait. The staff are rude and honestly don't care. In Newtown with so much good, well priced competition, Grub & Tucker should be embarassed if not ashamed of serving such overpriced, poor food with terrible service! Never again. Need whole new staff team or to shut down, believe the current staff team at least will help the place to shut down.
