Hoppy's Handwash Cafe, Milton Road, Toowong

Hostile Management Won't be going back. Used to visit them semi regularly, but today's confrontation with the Manager has ensured we will not return. Some months ago we were given a $20 voucher from Hoppy's at Toowong which we went to use today (6 months after receiving it). We were informed by a staff member that it was no longer valid (apparently it has an expiry of 1 month which we were never informed of). We pointed out that the voucher does not have an expiry date only a validity date and requested to speak with the manager. The hostility from the manager was evident before he even started talking with us. Confusion around the wording on the voucher aside, the manager's conduct will ensure we will never return or recommend this business to anyone else.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. I've been going to Hoppy's Toowong for about five years, Super Wash weekly, hand wax monthly, buff & polish yearly. Excellent work, attention to detail, very friendly and personal service. Thanks to the great team of Hoppy my car has been looking shiny and 'as new'. Apart from that its always very relaxing to just sit there and watch great cars going pass :)

A terrible example of customer service today. Specifically asked for a basic wash for $25. Then when I went to pay they had charged me $35 for what they said was excess dirt. This had not been communicated to me prior and then I was told not to come back as I insisted I only pay for what I asked for. Height of rudeness, terrible customer service. Strongly advise against using this carwash!

I have just had the car washed at Toowong Hoppy's Handwash Café. When I got home and was putting things into the back of the car I realised the whole right side back seat was wet! No-one even came to tell me when I collected my car. Being very upset that the car was soaked and the water would possibly stain my NEW car, I went back to Hoppy's to see if they could dry it or give some sort of explanation. When I asked to speak to the manager, he was rude and told me that the back window was wound down. No one ever sits in the back of my car, there is no reason the window should be down! He then went on to tell us its not their fault its ours for not checking first or reading the sign that tells us its our responsibility (which is further down the back where customers don't go). I didn't want money back, just an apology or even an acknowledgement that they caused the water getting into the car. The manager then told me "you'll get no empathy from me". I asked why no one told us when we collected the car and he just said What good would that have done". He continued to be rude and accept no responsibility. That's just bad business. On another note the three or so times I've been there before I have received terrible service in the café. I have ordered coffee each time and I never get it. When the buzzer goes off I have to remind the staff and get a takeaway. The whole point of the café is a 'while you wait' service! Today my car took half an hour to wash and the same thing happened - coffee was forgotten. I would strongly suggest avoiding the Toowong Hoppy's - not sure what other franchises are like but this one has rude and inconsiderate café and management staff who don't even make an attempt to help.

Poor Customer Service and Bad Car Cleaning: I have been to Hoppy's Handwash Cafe twice both times at Toowong. The first time I had my cloth seats washed and the car detailed. The car is not very old was not very dirty but I was advised the package was good value and ushered to the coffee shop. I mentioned I would like to come back for the car in 30 minutes and I was told if I left the premises I would have to pay for a taxi fare because there was nowhere to park the car onsite when it was finished so the manager would drive it somewhere and take a taxi back. The car was poorly detailed. The cleaned seats were still wet and so smelly that it was impossible to drive with the windows up. I thought the odour would wear off but over the next few weeks it got worse. I was going away and when I got back, I went to Hoppy's for the 2nd and last time. I was prepared to pay for any service necessary and told the manager the problem with the odour in the seats. He immediately became rude and defensive and said he had never heard anything like that and would check to see if the car really did have the seats washed there. I said that I didn't feel there was a need for him to be so aggressive as I was prepared to pay for any service. He ushered me forward to the next person who said the cost would be the $125 package, and to take a seat in the cafe. There was no thought to ask me about my concern with the upholstery or anything else. I felt uncomfortable and not confident with any service they may provide so I backed up and drove away.
