The food was quite nice. The staff were friendly and the service was reasonably quick. The food was not expensive and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant. I recommend this restaurant. The thing that caught my attention were the two members of the staff casually sitting on the table next to us waiting for us to finish our meal before closing time (10:00pm).

T was Christmas eve, the local supermarket was closed and there was nothing in the fridge. My (Thai) girlfriend and I had previously eaten at the 'King and I' and found it a very forgettable yet filling meal. Regardless, we were hungry and there weren't many other options. Luckily for us the local thai restaurant was open - The young gentleman that answered the phone kindly informed me that our meal would be ready in the next half an hour. Thirty minutes later we arrived to collect our food. It became obvious that the staff were holding some kind of end of year party. As I paid for our meal one of the kind waitresses mentioned something in thai which was followed by a round of laughter and glances in my direction. After leaving the restaurant my girlfriend firmly told me that we would "NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN". Apparently the kind lady had made a comment on my hairstyle, something along the lines of "I want to borrow his head to wash the dishes" (I am of islander origin and have an afro haircut). Following my shock that they would treat a customer in this manner (Firstly, that they would speak about and address a paying customer in such an uncomplimentary manner and Secondly, that they would make such a comment, in front of the customers face) I decided to go back and ask for an apology. The surprising revelation that my girlfriend was Thai and had listened to and understood their entire conversation, seemed to shock those involved nearly as much as I had been offended. However the kind lady that made the comment simply denied the comment had been directed at me and was pointing at the young gentleman that had passed us our meal (he did not have an afro). After expressing the level of offense I had taken with regards to my treatment (at no point did anyone, including the manager sitting down, take any level of responsibility or attempt to make any form of apology) I decided to leave. I have never had such a horrible experience at a restaurant before, considering we got takeaway and were there for less than two minutes. We did not even eat the food. If you don't mind driving an extra 5 minutes and want some good quality thai where the staff wont talk about you in a disparaging manner in front of your face I would recommend iSpicy or Thai saffron.
