Kitami Japanese Restaurant

By far the best value Japanese restaurant in Newy. Nestled in a small enclave behind Darby Raj, the traffic and other Darby goers feel a world away. The only thing I could fault them on is their choice of jazz/trumpet music.

Very nice Japanese bistro style. Chicken teriaki, Salmon don or Eel don (unadon) $15 with miso soup worth trying. Reasonable prices. Well worth a visit

We've been going to Kitami regularly since it opened in it's new location on Darby Street, and we are big fans. The Teriyaki Chicken Udon is amazing, and the Inari are always super fresh. Lunch is very reasonably priced and enjoyable, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to grab a quick bite on Darby without spending the Earth.

We went to the restaurant on 5 Mar 2011, we ordered their banquet for two. It was $33 per person. The food was average compare to other Japanese restaurants' banquet food, and the quantity and quality were just disappointing. It quantity was only good for one person and very plain, the sushi on the plate didn't fresh enough to be call the Japanese food. The kitchen looks dirty and disordered. I just want to let all customers know the menu is totally misleading, you think you would get all fabulous food from the menu, but all you can get only one item for each person, so it's definitely not worth what you paid for. I had Japanese banquet other places, what Kitami provides to their customers is absolutely rip off and misleading. So before you go, think about it!
