We've been there a couple of times for dinner on a Friday night. The 1st time with a group of 8 every thing was great, service, food, the musician was a bit loud, considering he is not the floor show. Then four of us went last week, and it was a very ordinary experience. 3 of us sat and watched and waited while the 4th had almost finished her meal. We had to ask where our meals were, and when they were eventually brought to the table, 2 of the meals were cold. The musician was louder than ever, and we had to yell at each other to make ourselves heard. So quite disappointed re the lack of attention to detail !

I don't know what to say about this little gem in the heart of Croydon. A comfortable mix of bohemian style and sophisticated surrounds. Nice courtyard at the back (more cacti required), but unfortunately, no smoking is permitted here during lunch hours (12-2). I also had trouble finding the bog. Once inside I found there was a lack of handsoap and had to request more.

Kofi Beans is to coffee in Croydon what Gary Ablett Jr. is to his teammates at the Gold Coast Suns: a cut above. Croydon is cafe-heavy; Kofi Beans is consistently packed with people, and there's a reason for that. It is consistently high in quality across its entire range of food, coffee, and service. The decor is beautiful, with strong Marrakechian vibes, and the cafe space is essentially broken into thirds: sit out front on Main Street, inside in the warmth, or out the back in the courtyard - which is perfect in summer. There is a real ambience, a palpable buzz that you get from the best cafes, where there is a mood, not just food and drink. It's helped that they stock Jaspers' Fair Trade coffee, and that their baristas are top-notch. If you're local to Croydon, or located within a reasonable distance, you could do far worse than sample Kofi Bean's menu.
