Mercure Ballarat Hotel & Convention Centre

Excellent experience. The staff were friendly and quick to help and serve; and the setting was absolutely lovely, especially being able to stroll along the little river that ran through the grounds and experience the flowers. We purchased the Sovereign Hill package and by the time we had made use of the 'second-day-free' offer at Sovereign Hill; and adding in the fully cooked breakfasts for 5 people every morning of our stay - we worked out that it was a very good price for our accommodation which was very comfortable. We liked the 'olde-world' style of the room with its dark wooden furniture, leather chairs and the green desk lamps. The meals were reasonably priced and were very nice and pretty good value for money. I especially enjoyed being able to have a quick game of eight ball on the full sized snooker table next to the dining room between ordering and eating. We had a slight problem of drainage on the doorstep of the room we were in, and when it poured with rain we found that we were sidestepping some puddles to access the door - but as we were experiencing the 'pioneering spirit' of the first settlers - it just seemed to add to the historic romance of the stay; and as the rain cleared the next day so did the water, so it was OK. Thanks to all the staff who were very courteous and helpful during our stay.
