O.K.G.M.A Karate

I thought I'd check out the local martial arts schools, to see if they were interesting. I assumed this one was going to be just another McDojo, but I was wrong. The school front doesn't look particularly flashy, but that's because it's not commercial, it's traditional. You step inside, and the walls have all these Japanese scrolls and carvings. The masters they have there have actually lived and trained in Okinawa the island off Japan, China and Italy. Their Sifu master looks intimidating, but has a great sense of humor. The master was teaching stuff I've never seen anywhere else, not even at the Wing Chun school. The masters son is the funniest and most energetic guy I've ever met. They weren't just demonstrating the techniques; they were explaining them with such depth of knowledge that they make the other masters around sound like politicians. These guys know their stuff. You'd have to travel overseas, shave your head and train for 30 years to learn this stuff, and their master teaches it openly. This Dojo is the best kept secret in Melbourne, and probably all Australia.
