When I first moved to Sydney, I called Kings Cross home. I lived in a lodge off the strip and so became very familiar with the local eateries. Pad thai quickly became a twice weekly event because as the name would suggest, they do GREAT pad thai! For about $12 you can get a large steaming plate of fresh wonderfully flavoursome noodles that is well balanced with the obligatory sweet, salty, acidic flavours as any good pad thai should be. I wouldn't exactly call Pad Thai a restaurant, but more a hawkers stall cum hole in the wall takeout. The decor leaves a lot to be desired, but the Pad Thai is worth the visually unappealing interior. You could always try sitting outside on the plastic table and chairs as Pad Thai is a stone throw from one of the busiest and most highly entertaining intersections in the cross, so there is never a dull moment. This is inner city value dining at its red-light finest.
