My partner worked in the industry for over 20 yrs (just retired) & let me tell you, you have made some very serious accusations. She worked there amongst amongst many nursing homes & let me tell you that Pendle Hill is one of the best. The residents are cared for & loved dearly & it's clean. It takes a special person to work in these sorts of places & it sounds like you may have a member of family recently diagnosed with dementia & you don't know how to deal with or understand it. Yes walking into any nursing home is alarming but that's if you're not use to it. Do u know what it's like to work somewhere where 80% of the people can't control bowel movements? So are you going to punish the resident for that? NO! I suggest you go visit some other places & you will find Pendle Hill is one of the best around for love & care provided to residents & family. You comment about bruises, did you see someone abuse a resident? I don't think so. Would you know if they fell over? You wouldn't? Nor would you know how easily an elderly person bruises. Do you know if another resident that might have dementia whacked another resident? That is the sort of things that staff have to deal with. How would u know if their needs are met? You obviously spent approx an hour every now & again visiting. Do you ever stop to think that jugs are placed in the rooms next to beds & NURSES or VISITORS give residents a drink?? Why dont you offer your services for a day and see how great staff and facilites are? Someone such as yourself who is extremely sheltered & only visits every now & again for a limited time really shouldn't pass comment. You won't find many places where staff attends the funerals of residents because they cared about them, establish a friendship with them and the families. If you feel it's not good enough then why don't you go hire two (2) live in nurses so they can monitor & supervise your member of family 24hrs hours a day? I praise all the nursing & domestic staff at Pendle Hill, it was & still is one of the best nursing homes with some of the longest standing dedicated employees. I would strongly recommend you think long and hard before you post comments as such. Good luck finding a better place!
