Rapid Tune Preston

Brought my wife's car into Rapid Tune Preston when it overheated and was losing fluid. Told by guy on desk owner Michael would ring me later to inform me what was wrong. Was rang by Michael mid-morning who told me the water pump needed replacing at about $350, and then gave me a list of other parts that were on their way out. In short, all the repairs would cost me $1600 all up. In situations like this, you trust the mechanic when he says this work needs doing. In hindsight I wish I only asked Rapid Tune to replace the water pump. I have since shown the receipt to my usual mechanic in Ballarat who says the parts I was charged for were costly compared to what he charges plus labor was very expensive. I think it came to over $500 for a days work. I'm also dubious that the final bill came to exactly $1600 on the nail. One of the parts changed were the brake pads but I experienced squeaking from the front brakes the following day. Brought it back to the garage to remedy. Was told my Michael it was just a film of grease/dirt on the pads causing the problem. However, brakes squeaked again the next day. Brought it back to Rapid Tune for the second time to get fixed. Was again told the problem was fixed but brakes continued to squeak. Brought back to garage a third time to sort out and again told problem was fixed. Brakes continue to squeak to this day. But I won't be bringing it back to Rapid Tune again as I don't believe they have the knowledge or expertise to fix this problem as evidenced by their three previous failed attempts. Car is also now "misfiring" between 80-100km/h which it wasn't doing before I brought it into Rapid Tune. However, I do have a lovely clean engine to show for my money. Maybe they just paid someone $50 to give the engine a bit of spit and polish? So all up, I'm $1600 lighter and have two extra problems I didn't have before I brought my car into Rapid Tune. Hence to say I will not be using this garage again in the future.

We take our fleet of vehicles 12+ to Rapid Tune, and have not had any problems. Owner Michael is always clear and upfront for all costs. If something does comes up he tells us and makes sure we are always prepared. Rapid Tune ensure the job is done right the first time! I have used many mechanics and found Rapid Tune Preston to be always fair and trustworthy.

Highly recommend these guys! Michael and his team are exceptional. Michael is excellent with his customers and the minute I met him I felt comfortable that he wasn't going to rip me off (as a young woman!). He makes sure he doesn't do any work unless you approve it, and will prioritise work required for you if you can't afford everything at once. Very community-minded and allows some flexibility with payment if you really need it.

Biggest theif in melbourne city...owner micheal is a totally money minded only..not work...i bought service coupon from guy came to my shop...and my bmw 2006 was always servieced by bmw and just once i been this place for service they racked my car cost me $5000...so beware people from this thief...
