We visited for a function on the weekend with friends and were shocked and appalled when staff suddenly started selecting 'drunk' persons at random (part of the function) to throw out. No one was fighting, the host did not ask for anyone to be kicked out, there was no abuse, yelling or bad nature of any kind. It seemed as soon as the prepaid bar tab had run out they though "Hey, we've made our money, lets kick them out so their friends follow suit". One bartender cited a regulation that you must have ice in your jacks and coke, you cannot have it served without ice, whilst another downstairs said that was not the case. Managers backed up bartenders stating the regulation existed in the RSA and making false accusations against patrons. One manager snatched drinks off two different people and refused to give either of them a refund for their drinks, constantly saying to them "Argue with me, and you'll be kicked out.". Not one staff member would admit they were wrong even when proven wrong. Very poor service and poor mannerisms to customers. We will not be going back there unfortunately.

Our netball team stayed here for our end of season trip. The ammenities are simple but clean and tidy. We booked 3 standard rooms and one delux room. We managed to get the 3 standards all in one wing so we didnt have to share the 2 shared bathrooms with anyone else. The delux had its own mini ensuite, very small but did the job. The food is simple pub-style food but it was tasty and cheap! Overall, the staff were excellent, booking and check in were easy and the rooms were neat and tidy. Customer service was fab - the manager even called me when the cleaner found a necklace I had left behind. Just goes to show that there is still some honest people out there. It is an old restored pub so expext a little dust, old paint and some creaky floorboards. Just remember that its a hotel not a motel so it wont suit everyone but we found that it served our purpose, charged great rates and we would definitely stay there again with a group on a big night out.
