Royal Mail Hotel, 92 Brisbane Terrace, Goodna

The Royal Mail Hotel has been part of Goodna since at least 1864. Cobb and Co coaches used to stop at the Royal Mail on their journeys between Ipswich and Brisbane. Fox hunts were held in Goodna in the 1890s with riders meeting outside the Royal Mail Hotel. Brisbane Terrace was the main road from Brisbane to Toowoomba until December 1955. The 1974 flood was so high at Goodna, a cow floated into the top floor of the Royal Mail Hotel and survived. As the waters receded, it was brought down the internal staircase of the hotel and returned to its owner Mrs Eileen Leoni who lived in nearby Short Street.
