Customer service could be better depending on who the waiter/waitress is. They don't offer you a seat at the door and when they did seat us... the waiter didn't even give us the menu - I had to ask for it or get up and find it myself. First impressions were crap. Even an Asian restaurant does better. Food, decor, ambience makes up for it and thats why I like it. But the waitstaff gives this joint its down fall.

After many meals at the new Steve's I am generally unimpressed with the menu and portion sizes. I am happy to pay $20 to $30 for a gourmet steak sandwich but i would like it to be bigger than 3x2 inches. The chips look great but are tasteless and my average count now is 7 chips per meal. The oysters are always fresh and well priced but the place lacks the wow factor that will change it from being the place to be seen, to the place you want to go to.

Went there this morning. We waited at least 10mins before a staff member asked if we want a seat. The coffee then came out lukewarm and steve breakfast was way too oily for me. Bit of a shame really as the place has style and the toilets are amazingly clean. For the price I would be looking elsewhere.

Went to Steve's for drinks at 6:30pm on Saturday. As we were in a large group we were hoping to get a table; however we were told tables were by booking only on Saturday nights. The waitress was very nice though, and said we could move some bar stools to an area by the window so we could all sit together, and order meals to eat there as well. The wine list is extensive (and of course the bottle shop is right next door), and there is a small selection of cocktails. I ordered a gin & tonic ($6.50) and a Campari Razor cocktail ($14) - the cocktail was well worth it, as they used fresh limes and freshly squeezed blood orange juice. Tasted wonderful as well, can't wait to go back for another one! We didn't eat dinner, although I did get a look at the tapas plates and they looked divine (unfortunately cannot comment on the taste). They had bowls of mixed antipasto, chorizo and lemon and numerous other tapas. All were priced at $5. Overall the service was wonderful, drinks were excellent (and reasonably priced, especially for the time and effort put into preparing the cocktail), ambience and decor tasteful and warm...will definitely return to try the tapas and have a few more Campari Razors!
