A fun and funky space for watching those smaller productions that can often be more enjoyable than those big dollar plays. If you're after a Darlo experience I recommend popping in to the Tap Gallery for a show.

For theatre-makers and artists, this place is a great, cheap space and the owners are really laid back and easy to work with. However, watch out for OH&S issues, especially with the upstairs theatre seating. For patrons, the cute surroundings make for great exhibitions, there are often interesting and fun events on and the plays showcase some of Sydney's finest, yet smaller, artists. However, be careful where you choose to sit in the upstairs theatre.

Great quirky gallery/performance venue. We've use the place both for a theatre play and a video shoot, and it definitely has character. The gallery downstairs is great for expositions, as well as the big wide space upstairs. The mini-theatre is a bit oddly laid-out, but still great. The best part is probably the bar/lobby just up the stairs, which says everything about the place: messy, made from bits and bobs, but charming.

The Tap Gallery has now given me several opportunities to put my art works "out there", in a very simple, friendly, effective manner. I feel "at home" / "welcome" at the Tap Gallery. Whether it was the launching of a book by a friend; my own exhibition to celebrate my birthday, or to be part of exhibitions, curated by Steve Mclaren, all events have been well-organised, low-key, very pleasant events, bringing together a wonderful cross-section of members of Sydney's communities and beyond.
