This is one of my favourite venues in Neutral Bay. The beer garden is great on a warm day and there is plenty of room for large groups. Drinks are decent in price and the bar staff are very helpful. The food is great and it's one of the few places I found Buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce. There is also a 'cook your own steak' option, which is great fun. They host some meat classes sometimes which are very educational. There are plenty of pool tables upstairs and it's a great place for birthdays and other events

The Oaks Hotel has gone through a great renovation, with major improvements to the bar and grill section. Fantastic all round pub, with a good sports bar, great outdoor drinking area under the oak tree idea for weekend beers in the summer. The recently renovated bar and grill now tops the pub off. Great place to go for the novelty factor alone of cooking your own steaks. I attended one of The Oaks Hotel's master class sessions with Anthony from Victor Churchill meats and the three course menu with matching wines was fantastic. The food was fresh and innovative, the master classes are a new concept but something I'd recommend.

The Oaks has undergone something of a revolution of late led in no small part by the newly renovated Bar & Grill section. It's a steakhouse vibe created for the meataholic where you can choose your cut and your cooking style. Prepare for meat sweats. You've still got the old school pub in the front section and the lovely courtyard out back as well as the notorious pool rooms on the top level where many an evening has been lost in a snooker-fueled haze. The Oaks remains a local favourite but the new Bar & Grill make it worth a trip across the bridge.

Wow! I used to go to the Oaks Hotel every now and then when I lived in Neutral Bay three years ago and I wasn't particularly keen to eat there as the place was too big for me and just not inviting enough (except for the beergarden area). But I have changed my mind after having visted it recently! They have refurbished the entire hotel and it looks much more inviting now. The interior is very modern and trendy now but hasn't lost its charme. It's a family-owned business, providing high-quality food (the Scotch beefsteak is just incredible!) and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The place is so big that you could get lost in there as they do have a very inviting outdoors area (great for summer nights with friends!), a bar, a bottle shop, a large restaurant area, another bar/lounge and more rooms upstairs. The place is good for a family night out or after work drinks. The car parking situation around the hotel can be a bit tricky, you might have to find a spot in an alley somewhere further down and walk up there but if you are planning to drink, you shouldn't drive anyway ;-)

Acorns falling on your head...thick steaks charing on the grill! Oh The Oaks will give you such a thrill! Outside in the beer garden, a large oak tree shades you on a sunny Sydney day (no acorns falling in real time), a chilled meat cooler showcases all the tasty bovine morsels you can grill up or have masterfully grilled up for your enjoyment. Good selection of beers, both beloved Aussies favourites & local brews; ample wine selection for those after a drop with their dinner & a renovated, modern dining & lounging space full of those who live north of the bridge. From all the hustle & bustle, it is obviously a favourite with all the locals!
