My fiancé and I were hunting for wedding suits (for a good 3 months!) & wanted something 'different' but not too different. Had big expectations for this place as we heard about it from friends who recommended it - longtime customers, big fans, yada yada yada. Our first mistake was turning up at 11 am on a Saturday morning (after our Proud Mary's coffee). Put it this way, we weren't the only ones there & it took 20 mins just to get served. They had 8-9 staff on, but still, this place gets BUSY on Saturday mornings (apparently best time to go is during the week but who has time to do that ?). We browsed & eventually we got some attention – these guys know exactly what they're doing, and deliver great service - BUT let it be known, the place is a factory & only open until 12.30 on Saturdays ??? get there after 1pm and the shutters are down, gates locked & place deserted. Not open on Sunday. Clearly not up with 21st Century trading hours. Product is absolute quality & reasonably priced. We picked a light blue suit for our four groomsmen & myself (Italian Super 120 wool) off the rack (one of our groomsmen (6'8”) had to be tailor made). We paid $600 for the boys (inc tie) and $1000 for the tailored. They looked awesome & worth every penny. We came back with all the boys 3 weeks later for fittings. Twisted their arm & they threw in a tie, but not shirt. For the price & product, well worth the effort – good value & will be back. Special mention on the great service. We had to wait for it at the start but John, you came through in spades for our big day, you're a star. Moral of the story – great product but get there early if you're going on a Saturday morning – like 9am. Also, go to South of Johnstone for coffee instead of Proud Mary's (less attitude & better coffee).

Exceptional service & quality product. My husband was looking for a new suit supplier for the past 12-18 months (his old tailor retired) and thankfully there are still those in Melbourne who take the time, patience and effort to make buying a suit (or ANY product for that matter) a very pleasant experience. My husband ended up buying 3 suits for work, off-the-rack, for the first time in many years - "their fit is exceptional" were his words. Their product knowledge of tailoring is evident, they are professional and they provide genuine customer service. The workshop really is not much to look at, it is a 'real factory' with old machinery and pressers banging on in the background, and I understand they still make some of their garments in Collingwood - but not all. Recommend it & thankyou Dr Google for a nice lead.

Found this factory via web / forums & happy to say, great service & quality. Ended up buying 2 suits & 2 trousers for work & will definitely get my wedding suits from here next year. Brilliant service - this is what retail should be about. Thankyou Paresh.

First time at Travellers Apparel and what can I say - WOW. I didn't know people still manufactured this quality in Australia any more. Their fit & styles are unbeleivable. I've never had a suit fit like this off the rack.Free alterations - unheard of ! As my workmates said, the place is a factory, so don't expect anything fancy, but price, service and quality are unbeatable. Well done to whoever's behind it.

My fiance bought his wedding suit at Travellers in June 2010 and we were overwhelmed by the service and quality. After searching the city & Chadstone, we were pleasantly surprised to find real tailoring still happening in Australia. This place is a rare gem away from today's retail world - genuine old-fashioned service. It really doesn't look like much from the outside (and inside to be fair), but the suits were superb. Our three groomsmen also bought some suits off the rack for work and were well looked after. Being slim guys they all chose the same slim fitting suit ! For our first experience, full marks.
