This has to be the Fawlty Towers of Warrandyte as far as service is concerned. Food and drink is great if you can ever get served. Waiters/waitresses totally untrained. 4 months ago the staff were more interested in chatting to friends on mobile phones rather than serving people. We visit this cafe monthly (or rather we used to) after the monthly market. Last month (October 2013) we waited 20 minutes and had not even had our order taken, so we left after complaining to the girl in charge. This month (November 2013) the 3 of us arrived and sat outside on the back terrace. Tables stacked with used dishes not cleared away. Manager lady arrived after we'd waited for 15 minutes, did clear away the old dishes and bought us water and dirty glasses. Took our order for 1 cappucino and 2 iced coffees. 5 minutes later another waitress brought us a meal we hadn't ordered.... we sent her away. 5 minutes later my capuccino arrived... delicious, but no iced coffees for my companions. Still 5 minutes later we called another waitress who apologised profusely and said the iced coffees would be out in a moment. 15 minutes later (now 45 minutes since we arrived) no iced coffees forthcoming so we left. Girl on cash register (to whom we had explained the saga) then wanted $13. I explained that we'd only had one cappucino. "Yes" she said "but there's also 2 iced coffees on the bill". "But we never got them" I replied. "Yes, I know, I've just cancelled them but they're still on the bill". "Well I'm not paying for them", I replied and left $4 for the cappucino. Never again until they get some decent staff and management.

I LOVE Warrandyte Cafe because it is so down to earth, friendly and most importantly DOG FRIENDLY. It truly represents Warrandyte, being community minded, close to the river and friendly. If you dont like dogs or in cooler weather you can sit in comfort inside but the true pleasure comes from taking your pooch or just watching pooches at play under the trees, while you enjoy the friendly service, smiles and engaging staff. I loved that being a regular you are welcomed by name and staff know your order. Menu options are vast and accomodating. I always make a point of visiting when visiting from interstate and spread the word that this is one of the most enjoyable cafes I know. If you cant appreciate the surrounds and Warrandyte ambience, then maybe this is not for you.

Yes service can be slow on the odd occasion, but food and coffee good. Your pooches are always welcome at the widely spaced outdoor tables. Follow up with a walk & swim for the dogs along the Yarra just next door. We love it!

Been here twice. The first time we sat down, waited 30mins without any staff approaching us so we left. We thought they may have just had a bad day so came back for a second go a few months later. Service was ok, coffee was good, food was very average. Good location going to waste. Needs a lot of work.
