Yum Yum Chinese Restaurant

Highly recommend this family business restaurant. Great food and a great price. My partner and I had the 2 person 7 course banquet and we loved it. Comes in big enough portions that you can finish everything and not feel bloated. The owners are really friendly, and it really is yum yum... and we will be back.

These people are really friendly. I order the same sechuan pepper chicken everytime so I can't say much about the menu.

I like my Chinese food, whether it be Cantonese BBQ, traditional szechuan or westernized chinese food. To this extent Yum Yum is a westernized chinese food restaurant in my eyes and overall I was not impressed with the food. I ordered takeaway. The fried rice was fine, but I have had better. I ordered beef statays, but got home and realized they did chicken instead, they were fine but once again I have had better. The above was edible, and for the price, no real issues. But now we come to the black pepper chicken, this dish was simply weird. The dish was creamy and gluggy, I have never experienced a black pepper dish like this. It tasted more like a pasta sauce than Chinese food, in fact I considered cooking some pasta and stirring it through :-) . But to make matters worse, the dish was full of oil, the oil was sitting on top of the creamy sauce (see photos). It has a mild pepper taste at best, after a few bites I had to give up. On the positive side, the service was attentive, the decor is nice and the kitchen can be see when ordering and it looks very clean indeed. To this extent I thought I had found a new home town for some local Chinese food, but with 1 of the 3 dishes being inedible and the other 2 being average at best, I don't think I will be going back anytime soon. There are cheaper and better tasting westernized chinese food eateries in the area, but they are not open on Mondays :-( .
