Golden Barley Hotel

Finally, oh finally, the back eating area has been renovated. I heard the whispers but couldn't believe my peepers - it's tres chic and lovely, miles away from the airport cafeteria it used to be. Was a little nervous about the new menu, a few pricey items (not all though, good burgers and share thingies!). Had the Zaatar-spiced lamb.... and loved it, special food in a special space.... it's about time Golden Barley. Proud of my local :0)

There was a limited choice for vegetarians. No pasta dishes, no veggie burgers, just salads. The salad on special at $18 was tasty but basic and far too small. It was described as 'big plate' but was no bigger than an entree. The restaurant is not targeted to its local customer. It is pretentious and inadequate.

Nice classic pub. The inside isn't very warm or inviting but the massive beer garden is great in summer, and the place is very family friendly.

Great pub venue. Prices are great and the food really tasty. Trivia is a great way to spend an evening and great prices to be won. Well worth a visit.

I was at the Golden Barley yesterday for mothers day..i wasnt expecting fine dining food but i certainly didnt expect the food to be as bad as it was! I could go into detail about how bad each dish was but rather than do that all i can say is yes go for drinks & stick to the mezze plates! (oh my dad didnt mind the steak..) I live locally and thought i would give the 'new menu' a shot - i am still scarred - We would have been better off staying home & cooking my mother something half decent or just going elsewhere! Sorry Golden Barley Hotel but it was a shocker!
