Nelson 382 Restaurant

Yesterday evening, 21st. October, for our anniversary we attended this restaurant. The food was recommended by a friend of my wife's. She was told, "The decor was ordinary but the food is good". Well I can tell you that both were excellent. After the cob loaf as an entrée we went for duck. I'm not a fan of duck, always a bit gamey for my taste but we both took a punt on the 'Duck Risotto. Cooked in Hoisin Flavour with Peking Duck'. Delicious.I could have gone seconds but was planning an onslaught on the Hazelnut Cake. Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache. Oh dear! I wanted to lick the plate but good manners and my wife's threatening look stopped me. Regarding the decor. Obviously this is a matter of taste. There were choices of a booth or a table, I opted for the booth which was very nice and cosy but didn't give a feeling of being crushed as can be found in other establishments, just right. I was also full of admiration for the decor which had a seafaring theme based around Admiral Lord Nelson of the British Navy from the Napoleonic era. A bit of a favourite theme of mine. Lots of pictures of sailing ships from days gone by, posters and items about Nelson. Anyway, I can definitely recommend it! I should also mention the staff who were friendly, courteous and efficient, and added greatly to the atmosphere. Many thanks to them.

Our party was quite satisfied with out stay here. We reserved a table but were a little late. Luckily, our table was still available and we were seated. The sweet potato mash and fillet stake were amazing and quite delicious.

Visited Nelson 382 for the first time on a spur of the moment decision and did not regret it. Enjoyed the fillet steak with greens and chips and followed it up with hazelnut chocolate cake with ganache and fresh cream. Staff were friendly and accommodating and the restaurant appeared busy for what I anticipated to be a quiet Monday night. I will return one day very soon.

I took Argentinian friends here 28 months ago when they recently arrived from the land of beef steaks. Since then they have tried many restaurants in Melbourne including some very high profile expensive places, to this day they claim that they have not found a steak as good as the one they had at Nelsons. The oysters are always delicious and fresh, the service is warm friendly and unpretentious and the deserts are delicious. I write this after some 20 visits to this restaurant, i have always walked away satisfied.

The best Beef Wellington in either Melbourne or Sydney. Located in a fairly unobtrusive setting I was fortunate to have stumbled upon it by accident. This place has great food and excellent service.The waitresses are very friendly and courteous and we have always had a wonderful time here. Worth driving the distance to experience. Try this place out. You will be happy you did.
