Red Square Cafe

It seems not a lot happens in Cambridge after 3 and that's true at this Cafe too. We made an effort to get there closer to midday to make sure we could sample the menu as (despite a less than stellar reputation) we had actually heard some great feedback from friends. The menu (although a little long) is varied and interesting. The meals took about 10mins to come out and were delicious! They are now using Bruno Rossi coffee which is not a blend I had seen before. My latte was great, good aroma, perfect temperature and free poured with a lovely rosetta. Considering its size, layout and the slow takeoff of Cambridge Park, I can see why this place has had a hard time finding it's feet. I found out that its now family owned as I met the young couple who run the place. They welcomed us like you would a guest in your own home. We're looking forward to returning to sample some more of the menu!

Dropped in for a coffe while shopping and not overly impressed. We got there at 2.45. The sign on the counter said' "Lunch menu available until 3." We asked just in case and the girl behind the counter said it was already finished and just took the sign down. We ordered coffee and a toasted sandwich and went and sat in the dining area. We were greeted by half a dozen tables that hadn't been cleared.Full of cups, plates and half eaten meals. And it wasn't busy either. The toasted sandwich arrived about 15 minutes later because the girl 'forgot she put it in the toaster'. Serious? It was overcooked. How can you stuff up a toasted sandwich? In short, staff disinterested, food crap, coffee very crap (weak and tasteless). Whomever owns this place needs to actually be there sometimes to see how bad it is.
